Memorial poles or Larrakitj are eucalyptus logs hollowed out by termites and painted with natural pigments. These three Larrakitj were created by the late Mulkun Wirrpanda an aboriginal artist from from the Jolnu tribe in eastern Arnhem land in the Northern Territory of the county we know as Australia. Over the years we’ve made lots of stands for all kinds of things but nothing as interesting or sacred as these. We wanted to make something that looked simple and safely held vertical an almost 3 metre long lump of top heavy eucalyptus.
