basic welding class

In a one day class learning to weld from zero to hero in 6 hours, learn the basic machine set up, gas, wire, power and wire feed settings. Practice the welds and then make something. One student in her first day of MIG welding successfully adapted a simple geodesic dome design into a model that could be scaled up easily into a foldable tent structure…. Geodesic domes are incredibly strong and can be light weight. Steel framed geodesics have many advantages over wood or aluminium- the main one being cost, weldability and flexibility to pull the stricture into place. In this 1V geodesic design made from hexagons and pentagons the side lengths are identical so theres only 1 length to cut which is easy… we adapted the design to make the dome a bit more 3D by filling out the basic shapes with more structure going back into the centre pf the panels and visually it came out really nice. I wonder what this would look like scaled up ? with larger panel sizes
